Searching for a secluded winter retreat? Set on the glorious Shropshire Hills, our two lovingly-crafted wooden lodges offer the most scenic setting for a seasonal countryside escape. Whether you enjoy exploring the outdoors, or simply wish to cosy up indoors with your loved ones, Moonrise Lodges provides everything you could possibly need for a truly relaxing winter staycation.

Walking in a Winter Wonderland…

Here at Moonrise Lodges, there are many fantastic walks right on our doorstep. Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd is a great destination for a winter hike; explore the valleys by car, foot, bike or horseback, before finishing off with a delicious hot drink at the Tea Rooms.

Or if you’re feeling a bit more active, why not venture to the Stiperstones ridge? Boasting ancient landscapes, old mines, rock climbing, whinberry picking and plenty of fascinating walks, the Stiperstones is a brilliant area to explore.

Secret Town Hideaways

Our nearest town is Montgomery, an idyllic Georgian market town with a 13th Century castle. Amble along the small market square and discover the tasty treats that the independent shops and cafes have to offer, take a special tour of the Montgomery brewery, other great things to do in Shropshire.

Ludlow is another nearby medieval market town that is always bustling with activity. The town is well-known for its exceptional standards of local food and drink. We highly recommend visiting this vibrant community town and sampling some of the local delicacies.

Shrewsbury is one of England’s finest medieval market towns, featuring aesthetic timber-framed black and white buildings and steep narrow streets. Why not walk along the River Severn or purchase some handmade artisan gifts from the independent shops and stalls?

Cosy Castles & Marvellous Museums

There are many historical sights to behold during your stay. Montgomery features a stunning 13th Century castle, which is free to walk around. Powys Castle is also just a short drive away and is home to an amazing collection of paintings, sculptures, furniture and tapestries.

The Iron Bridge Gorge Museums are well worth a visit. The ten award-winning museums are scattered along the River Severn; experience medieval England life at the Blists Hill Victorian Town, or get practical at Enginuity, the innovate science and technology centre.

Explore Our Family Farm

Keep the whole family entertained with one of Moonrise Lodges’ own farm tours. Our working farm is in operation all year round, and we have young calves available during the colder months to feed and pet – but make sure you pack your wellies!

Why not stop at the farm’s fishing lodge during your stay? Although fishing may not be viable during the winter, feel free to cosy up and make a tasty hot chocolate on the camping stove, whilst kicking back and taking in the picturesque views of the lake and beyond.

Relax & Recharge at Moonrise Lodges

Retreat to our luxurious lodges and unwind in your private hot tub after a busy day exploring the sights and sounds of the nearby attractions. With sprawling views across England and Wales, our hot tubs offer a serene escape, perfect for any season – even during the enchanting snowfall.

As the evening draws to a close, enjoy your drink of choice while lounging on the decking, or gather around the firepit to share stories and create lasting memories. Our lodges are nestled amidst the countryside, where minimal light pollution provides an ideal landscape for stargasing and experiencing the natural beauty of the night sky.

Our luxury log cabins are thoughtfully designed and well-heated throughout, ensuring you stay warm and cosy, no matter the weather. Whether you’re planning a romantic getaway or a relaxing retreat with friends, Moonrise Lodges offers the perfect blend of comfort, tranquility, and adventure.
