Hike Along the Stiperstones Ridge

The Stiperstones is a fantastic destination for some autumnal exploration. This distinctive, monumental landmark is truly a sight to behold, with its rugged outline visible from miles away. Rediscover History at Mitchell’s Fold Stone Circle

The prehistoric Bronze Age Mitchell’s Fold Stone Circle was once home to around 30 stones; but today, only 15 are visible. Built sometime between 2000-1200BC, this prehistoric stone circle is the subject of many fascinating myths and legend. Sitting high in the Shropshire Hills along the Stapelet Hill ridge, Mitchell’s Fold offers panoramic views of the Stiperstones to the east and the Welsh hills to the west.

Step Back in Time at Montgomery Castle

Set upon a steep crag overlooking a picturesque Georgian town, Montgomery Castle is a true sight to behold. Commenced around the year 1223 following the orders of Henry III, the castle was built to replace a nearby wooden fort known as Hen Domen. The imposing ruins of this stone-built Norman castle retain a powerful sense of mystery and drama, making for a totally free historical day out.
